Bergtheim, 11.10.2023 - Prodigy™ this is the name Springfield Armory chose for its new 1911. Why? Well because this pistol represents a modern interpretation of the popular 1911 models.
Instead of a one-piece steel grip, as is familiar with the familiar 1911 pistols, the grip of the Prodigy™ is two-piece. The upper slide guide is made of forged steel, while the grip base is made of high-strength polymer, which then offers magazine capacities of 17+1 and 20+1. The abbreviations DS and AOS stand for "Double Stack" and "Agency Optic System" that means optic-ready. The new 9mmLuger Springfield is equipped with a double-sided safety, skeletonized hammer, a Picatinny rail and a bull barrel in 5" or 4.25". It combines over all the best features of a classic 1911 with modern capacity, ergonomics and modularity.
