Now available - the Timney 2-Stage Trigger with Safety 533-16 Remington 700

Bergtheim, 10.01.2023 - Immediately after unpacking, it is immediately clear: the 2-stage trigger module 533-16 has a high haptic quality and feels just like what is to be expected from Timney Triggers. The red anodized trigger is already equipped with a safety lever, which makes installation immensely easier. The housing itself is an anodized aluminum housing with two set screws on the front (for the first and second stages) and one on the rear for adjusting the trigger. The rear screw is for adjusting the sear and should not be tampered with, according to Timney. A drop of red threadlocker makes this visually clear.

All internal components of the trigger mechanism are CNC-machined from hardened steel. The hammer notches are teflon-nickle coated to help with lubrication and to help keep the operation smooth. The trigger blade and safety - parts exposed to the shooter's hand and the elements - are nickel-plated for protection against the elements. Alternatively, the 533 triggers are available with black carbonitrided and/or straight trigger blades.

Switching triggers: Easy and conforming to the law

Remington trigger packs are easy to replace, as only two pins need to be driven out and then reinserted back together with the new trigger. (Caution is only required when dismantling the bolt stop, as it comes loose easily).

The trigger was installed in a Remington 700 Police in .308 WIN. The first stage is smooth-running, factory-set to 450 g (1 lb), and with only about 7 mm travel. The trigger drops very smoothly to the "wall" of the second stage and breaks crystal clear without any overtravel after passing the factory-set 700 g (1.5 lb) in the second stage.

The trigger blade is slimmer than the original Police trigger and also not ribbed. The only negative thing is that the safety is a little sluggish and notchy and only releases quietly when enough feeling is applied. However, this may also be since the safety mechanism still has to break in, after several safety movements, the travel became way smoother.

All in all, the 2-stage trigger 533 from Timney Triggers takes the Remington 700 to an even higher level trigger-wise. The Timney breaks like glass and gives you a great deal of confidence in the performance of the gun.
