On the basis of the terrorist attacks of Paris, the European Commission adopted a package of measures on the intensification of the law on guns on 18.11.2015.
The planned amendments to the EU Firearms Directive are as follows:
- Complicating the acquisition / possession of firearms (including medical tests, limited time of ownership)
- Increase of controls (acquisition / possession)
- Extension of the essential, and thus notifiable, parts of the weapon
- Regulations on SRS / salute weapons
- Ensure that you cannot dismantle to a “proper” gun firing live ammunition
- Introduction of these weapons into Category C - thus these weapons would be subject to reporting
- EU-wide regulations for the deactivation of weapons
- Change the categorization of:
- Semi-automatic rifles, which were originally fully automatic (New: category A, thus forbidden)
- Semi-automatic (also deactivated) rifles, which look similar to fully automatic ones (New: category A, thus forbidden)

Please also write to your MP of the European Parliament. Make it clear that legal weapon ownership is not the problem. Germany already has one of the most stringent weapons laws worldwide. In addition, legal weapons are not delict-relevant - this has been proven several times.
